I was surrounded by music and literature.

My family exposed me to live theater: dinner theaters, concerts, and ballets. My grandmother was the one who opened the library doors for me. She was the one who aided me at the earliest age to have my own library card. She would say many times, “Books are your friends.” I couldn’t help but to think fondly of my grandmother the day I got my own library card from the Library of Performing Arts. It has been a over a year now of navigating through manuscripts there in search of poems by some of our greatest American poets set to music by some of our greatest American composers. Thank you for letting me share this vision.
